{"id":203,"date":"2014-10-26T17:13:49","date_gmt":"2014-10-26T16:13:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gandhari.org\/blog\/?p=203"},"modified":"2020-09-15T17:44:16","modified_gmt":"2020-09-15T15:44:16","slug":"dictionary-lookup-types","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gandhari.org\/blog\/?p=203","title":{"rendered":"Dictionary Lookup Types"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We added Sanskrit and Pali search functionality to our <i>Dictionary<\/i>, and together with the existing Lemma and Form searches we now offer four different ways to look up articles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prefixing <code>L:<\/code> to the search string or choosing \u2018Lemma\u2019 in the drop\u2010down menu to the right of the search box will search article headwords in their normalized spelling.<\/li>\n<li>Prefixing <code>F:<\/code> or choosing \u2018Form\u2019 will search for word forms as they are actually spelled in source documents.<\/li>\n<li>Prefixing <code>S:<\/code> or choosing \u2018Sanskrit\u2019 will search Sanskrit words cited in the etymology sections of articles.<\/li>\n<li>Prefixing <code>P:<\/code> or choosing \u2018Pali\u2019 will search Pali words cited in the etymology sections of articles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Sanskrit and Pali lookups may still return a small number of false positives, but we hope their usefulness far outweighs this inconvenience as we continue to improve them.
